This video is a bit long but it includes very detailed information in order to clean this filter effectively and safely.
The one thing that tends to fail on these filters is the Rotor Valve on the bottom. Like I mentioned in the video if this valve fails, chances are your filter is pretty ancient and it would be more better to just install a new one instead of spending 0-0 to get it working. They may also be very loose and easy to turn and in that case may also be failing. What you will see is D.E. in the pool after you clean it as the Rotor Valve no longer is sealed. At that point you will need a new filter also.
THE LID:
Getting the lid on can be a chore. The one in the video is actually slightly warped so it took changing the O-ring and struggling with it for a while. I chose this filter for the video so you can see that it can be difficult. I have some that get sucked right back on with no effort. But in this case I had to really massage that O-ring under the lid. Once I got to a certain point it just sucked itself down.
BELOW SEA LEVEL
If you have a 2000 series filter and your equipment is below the pool water level, I feel sorry for you. I have one account with this set up. Getting the lid on can be a real struggle. The trick is to change the
O-ring with every cleaning and then do the trick you see in the video. You will then have to shut the water off to the filter by closing the valve again to no water is flowing into the filter. Now you will need to open the backwash again and pray that the added air created by opening the backwash will pull the lid down. It is pretty tough to do it without the backwash trick. You may have to charge the filter up and open the backwash several times until finally it gets sucked on. Remember to close the water to the system or it will just keep spilling out the top of the filter and you will not be able to get the lid on.
It is an easy filter to actually clean and maintain.
